Upcycled metal hanging bell chime displays three handcrafted copper bells in a cascading design. The bells are crafted from recycled iron sheets, which are covered in copper alloys. No rivets or nails are used for fixing the various components together. Its raw, rustic texture adds to the appeal.

Bell-making is an ancient Indian craft with enchanting origins. Traditionally used by farmers to identify their livestock, each bell is tuned to produce a distinctive chime. Creating music from lifeless metal, bell-making in India uses craftsmanship passed down through generations.

  • approximate size: 24" long, 3.5" bells
  • jute hanging loop
  • will have slight variations in design and size as this is a one-of-a-kind handmade product
  • wooden clackers create a soul like soothing sound

      Meet the Artisans

Due to consecutive droughts over the years, cattle breeders no longer buy bells on a regular basis and the demand for traditional bell making was on the verge of dying. With the help of mission-based organizations, at least 1,000 village artisans in the desert Kutch region are repositioning this art form and earning sustainable livelihoods by selling the bells internationally.

Our products will have slight variations in design and size, this is a natural occurrence in handmade goods and one of the many reasons we love them so.

No two designs will be exactly alike, giving you a lasting one-of-a-kind product to treasure for years to come.

        Festive and Harmonious

Purchased the bells to pair with a handmade wreath as an added touch. I love the sound and will keep them on the front door year-round with and without a festive wreath.

      What makes our bells special
      How They Are Lovingly Crafted

Metal bell craft requires highly refined skills and combined family input. First, men shape each bell, hammering rectangular strips of recycled metal into hollow cylinders. They then weld a dome-like metal crown onto the bell’s cylindrical body. Next, artisans bend and attach a metal strip to the crown so the bell can be hung.

Once the bell is shaped, women dip it in a solution of earth and water, then cover the wet bells with a mixture of powdered brass and copper. The bell, with its powdered coat, is wrapped in a pancake of local clay and cotton and placed in a kiln to bake.

After it is properly baked, the clay/cotton mixture is peeled away and any excess clay is rubbed off. Each bell is buffed and polished to accentuate its unique metallic luster, tinted with shades of yellow, gold, red, and brown. A ringer, made of a dense wood called sheesham, is attached inside the bell, converting the hollow metal object into a musical work of art.

I just received my second order, and I cannot express how happy I am with it. I ordered the long and the short brass wall sconces, candles, and the breathtaking votive candle chandelier. Everything came packaged very nicely and arrived in perfect condition.

My infant daughter recently spent some time in the ICU and her kantha baby blanket was one of the only things of hers from home that we had with us. It was a source of comfort and kept her warm and swaddled her over the cords for her entire stay. We love Connected Goods and these blankets specifically.
